| Happy New Year! | As 2011 gears up, United Way of Allen County, its board and staff are grateful for the support of thousands of individuals who give, advocate and volunteer in order to make Allen County a stronger community. For all who volunteer on committees and in workplace campaigns, and to everyone who donates to United Way -- THANK YOU! Throughout the past year, you've helped United Way accomplish a great deal. Did you know...
...that United Way funding helped Family & Children's Services provide 3,843 hours of individual or family therapy on a sliding fee scale last year? ...that United Way's 2-1-1 Call Center answered 40,127 calls last year? ...that of the 806 children enrolled in United Way-supported childcare programs, 82 percent experienced appropriate developmental gains?
Thank you. Here's to a great 2011!

| Campaign Update | |
Hundreds of volunteer ambassadors and company campaign coordinators have been working tirelessly to raise money for United Way of Allen County and its 37 agency partners this year -- and there's still more work to be done! Many campaigns have yet to run, and hundreds still are working to post results. To date, United Way is 62 percent of the way toward reaching the $5 million campaign goal. Final numbers will be tallied in April.
Meijer Stores is one of the early success stories -- its employees increased the amount raised by an amazing 28 percent, bringing their total to well over $60,000.
The Allen County Public Library is yet another superstar. The Library's total increased 14 percent and employee participation broke 50 percent. Director Jeff Krull will be singing karaoke for staff members as a "reward" for their participation!

| EITC Effort Underway | United Way of Allen County, the Volunteer Center @ RSVP and the Financial Stability Partnership are gearing up for the Earned Income Tax Credit program. Beginning January 29, individuals earning less than $49,000 will have the opportunity to have their taxes filed for free while also filing for the Earned Income Tax Credit. The EITC can put as much as $5,000 back in the pockets of low- to moderate- income families. For a complete list of tax preparation sites, call 2-1-1 or click here. Last year, United Way and its partners helped more than 4,977 local residents file their taxes and claim more than $2 million in credits.

| 211 Database Now Searchable Online | |
United Way's Northeast Indiana 2-1-1 Call Center has launched a new website that allows visitors to easily search a database of more than 2,000 area health and human service organizations. The database can be searched in many ways, including by zip code and type of service. The website's address is www.211NortheastIndiana.org. Visitors may also find the website through www.UnitedWayAllenCounty.org.
"This is really an expansion of our services," said Tiffany Bailey, 2-1-1 call center director. "2-1-1 and our phone counselors are always available to connect people in need to the services that will help them. Now, however, people can also access information over the Internet."
